Pappasan – Dinner

Scroll down for The Entertainer 2014 Mobile App giveaway!

I was recently invited by PappaSan, located at Dorsett Hotel, and The Entertainer to try their new creations which include appetizer items with flavours of Europe and Asia, and the main courses featuring an Italian Mountain Baked Fish and Portuguese Whole Roast Suckling Pig.

Sangria is a typical Spanish alcoholic drink. I am not a fan of Sangria in general but the watermelon juice was refreshing.

Lemongrass Chicken Wings

Succulent Beef Tenderloin Skewers

Prawns with tomato & Italian Gremolata

Crusted chicken rice balls

Tortilla chips with salsa

Among the tapas, my favourite would be the tortilla chips with salsa. It was very crispy and the salsa was frefreshing.

The other appetisers were pretty decent. I wish the chicken was juicier though. The lemongrass coating was a good idea.

For the main course they presented us with Italian Mountain Baked Fish which was baked in sea salt and then set on fire in front of us.

The salt and skin was removed from the fish before serving.

Despite the huge chunks of salt seen, the fish wasn’t too salty at all and in fact, pretty bland. The lemon and sauce gave it some flavour. While I didn’t find this to be very special compared to other fish preparation methods, it was an interesting experience and it will make an good communal fish.

Portuguese Whole Roast Suckling Pig

The pig is very soft and it was cut using a plate, like how it is done traditionally. Even the bones can be cut through with the plate and some pressure!

I’ve never tried European suckling pig before so this is my first time and I have nothing to compare it with. It is quite different from Chinese suckling pig in my opinion. You definitely must share this item among like 10 people at least because it’s oily and calories must be shared.

Caramel chocolate sauce with mangos was prepared to go with molten lava cake.

The cake was not bad, flowy enough for my liking.
