Open Farm Community – Lunch

I first learnt about this restaurant when beautiful pictures of their food appeared on my social media feed. I soon learnt that this restaurant was related to Open Door Policy (hence the similar name perhaps?) and The Tippling Club, and both are restaurants I love. The concept here is very unique – they have their own farm this concept is unusual in Singapore.

Pita like bread and some curry like oil was served while we wait for our food.

Taglierini with fresh clams & garlic sauce, parsley shad, lemon butter – $27.00++

I didn’t know what to expect from this because clams with pasta is quite common and tastes about the same everywhere but I trusted that it’ll be different somehow. Indeed, it was VERY different from the usual vongole pastas! I mean, from the description you can tell the sauce is different. It doesn’t taste like anything I’ve tried before and I highly recommend this item.

Charred S.A. lamb rump with garden peas, bacon, lettuce, mint, whipped mash & a rosemary thyme jus – $33.00++

I love lamb so I wanted to try this since it was recommended by the staff as one of their best dishes. Indeed, the meat was very tender, cooked to a nice doneness and had minimal odour of lamb. The accompanying greens and mash complimented well and this is a very good main course I must say.

Lemon tart with basil ice cream – $17.00++

This dessert was very beautiful and the chia seed sauce is a good idea. The combination of flavours worked well but this did not blow me away because, perhaps, I’m not a die hard fan of lemon (or sour flavours). I wouldn’t mind eating this for sure, but not to the extent of craving for it. In any case, where lemon tarts are concerned, this is a good one for sure.

Caramelised mango with textures of coconut – $17.00++

I had to order this when ‘coconut’ was in the description. And this, was SO GOOD! I may be biased because I love coconut but I really liked the varying texture of meringue, sago (I think?) and ice cream. The mango was well, nice, but it acted more like the supporting cast to me, to bring out the flavours of the coconut by adding some sweet-sourness. Fans of coconuts or fans of multiple textures in a dessert, this is a must try.
