Bangkok – Okura Prestige Hotel Afternoon Tea

It’s my first time in Bangkok and I’m generally unfamiliar with the place but I noticed that towards the east of city center there are many Japanese style establishments like restaurants and even a Japanese style spa. I’m not sure how popular Japanese culture is in Bangkok but I’m happy they have it there. I had a 1 hour onsen entry and 2 hour aromatherapy massage at Yunomori Onsen Spa (which is 3 hours of bliss!) in the morning and by the time I was done it was about time for afternoon tea. It wasn’t intentional to arrange my time like this but I ended up having a Japanese style afternoon tea at Okura Prestige Hotel’s Up & Above Restaurant. The Okura Prestige is a Japanese hotel and is probably the best place to find Japanese theme afternoon tea sets.

They offered 2 different afternoon tea sets – Japanese (฿960++) and Festive which was English and Christmas themed. Both sets serves 2 and comes with 2 drinks. An option with sparkling wine was available too.

The drink options included some Thai beverages like Thai Iced Tea or Lemongrass and I thought this was unique since you probably only can find such options in Thailand. I went for Japanese green tea (which they said was Gyokuro, but it isn’t).

Some English tea elements like scones were included but it’s made Japanese style with matcha flavour. The food wasn’t the best but decent enough. As for most afternoon tea experiences, it’s all about presentation and ambiance for you to relax the afternoon away.

Would sure love to come here again if I revisit Bangkok. The afternoon tea set changes every few months.
