Something no one tells you about yoga is that all yogis tend to have cracked skin on feet if extra effort isn’t put to rectify that. I am not spared either and my feet has been in the worst state it’s ever been due to so much friction with the mat everyday, with my skin on big toe perpetually cracked and peeling and heels being really dry. I know I am not the only person around who’s been neglecting her feet because I’ve been seeing cracked feet during yoga all the time!
Yes, most of the time we have foot wear on, and yes, most of the time your feet won’t go close to someone’s eyes for them to see any cracked feet so you may think it’s okay to neglect them, but if you do yoga like me, you’re bound to see feet flying near your face everyday.
It first started out with hardening of the skin around the balls of my feet, heels and big toe. I thought it was ok to just leave it and embrace hardened skin (I mean, at least it’s still functional…) but it became so dry and hard that it started cracking and that was raw and painful. Rough and sharp edges of skin was scratchy and I feared that it’ll ruin my precious yoga pants during tree pose or ruin delicate fabrics such as satin or chiffon on my normal clothes.
As much as I would love to fix this issue, I only get to have my dead skin removed when I go for pedicure sessions but unfortunately it doesn’t happen often because I don’t have time to head down regularly, being swamped with other things like yoga (and ironically that makes my dead skin situation worse…). I could manually file my foot but that takes up time and effort so I just secretly hope no one ever sees the horrible state of it (but really, everyone can see it whenever I go for yoga…).
Thankfully times have changed and now, there’s a home solution which I can use!
Introducing the Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi Electronic Foot File. I was really hopeful for this product to solve my long term problem and may I never ruin my yoga pants during tree pose anymore.
Basically you place the roller head on the target area, switch on the button and it does the work for you. All you need to do is move it around to areas of concern and the dead skin flies off. You don’t need to manually scrub anymore. This product operates on 4AA batteries and it is included in the starter pack.

You can see how cracked my big toes are right here. (So gross, I know…)
Look at all my dead skin flying off effortlessly! Much explanation about how to use it isn’t necessary because it’s quite a no-brainer. Switch it on, go over the area, apply light pressure, and watch your skin transform.
I used the Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi Electronic Foot File on my heel for about 3 minutes and it was liberating seeing my dead skin fly off. The after results showed obvious improvement to my skin texture.
The roller head can easily be removed by pressing the button at the side to release it. You can purchase a refill should yours wear out or perhaps simply to change the head if you want to share your foot file with someone else hygienically. The roller head is washable too, so it can actually last quite a while.
If you’re like me, having other priorities and having little time to visit nail salons (seriously I cannot sit there for 1.5h every 2 weeks waiting for my nails to be done), you may want to try out this product to achieve beautiful salon finished feet at home.
Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi Electronic Foot File is available at all leading pharmacies for $49.90.
It is also available on Redmart and you can enjoy 10% off if you key in the discount code rmmelissa! Offer valid until 31st December 2015.
