It was one of those days where I can’t think of what to have for dinner and also too lazy to venture far. I switched on the Entertainer App and found a restaurant near my place using the maps. If it wasn’t for the app’s listing, I probably won’t think of even reading about this restaurant even though I’ve passed by countless times. From the exterior I judged the place as ‘nothing special’, but as we all know, looks can be deceiving.

Anyway, thanks to The Entertainer, I gave this restaurant a chance. Turns out this restaurant is not that ordinary. The concept is rather unique – they serve only 3 main courses and all are $19.90+ each. You can from between 200g ribeye steak, beef skewer and roast chicken. Each main comes with hand cut fries and simple lettuce salad, both free flow. This reminds me of steak frites in France where fries are free flow.

The restaurant itself was of no frills in terms of decor and looks, quite home style. They have an outdoor rooftop terrace too, mainly for smoking and drinks. Do not expect full fledged service here, since there’s no service charge. Everything was kept simple and fuss free.

I ordered the rib eye steak, medium rare. The steak’s doneness wasn’t exactly perfect, being slightly uneven in some areas, but still within acceptable limits. The steak was decently done and met my expectations for something worth $19.90+. My favourite part was the hand cut fries. Everyone has their own opinion about this but I like my fries to be thinly crispy outside while being soft inside. I do not like it crunchy throughout. This one met my preference for fries and I absolutely loved it. Even though it was refillable, I applied discipline not to because I very well know I’ll polish everything and end up overeating. They provided 3 types of sauces and I liked the mustard for my fries. Salt and pepper are on the side for you to flavour up to your preference.

With the Entertainer, mains are 1-for-1 which makes it $19.90+ for 2! This is definitely a very good deal. I wonder why I never bothered finding out what this place was about earlier. Even without the Entertainer, $19.90+ per person is a very reasonable price to pay for food in Singapore. I’m glad I found this hidden gem near my place.
