Dozo – Dinner

(Closed)

I visited Dozo for the first time for my birthday.

At Dozo, they serve only degustation set menus, which consists of 7 courses for dinner ($59.80++), and 6 courses for lunch ($39.80).

All courses comes with several options, so you’ll find something you like.

Free flow of fried/ baked spaghetti sticks to munch on

Complimentary, to cleanse our palate, before the meal

Amuse bouche was fixed

Scallop

Foie gras

Smoked salmon

Cold dish – King Crab Claw Salad drizzled with Sesame Vinaigrette

Cold dish – Air flown seasonal sashimi

Side dish – tempura battered soft shell crab on galette of mash

Side dish – Gratinated escargots topped with yuzu butter

Soup – Crab Bisque cappuccino style

We both had this and it was good.

Main course – Beef Tenderloin on ‘Pu Ye’ and granite hot stone

My partner orderd this and it was spectacular! Not your usual steak, but something different. And also, you are supposed to control the doneness yourself – place the whole leaf away from to stone to stop the cooking.

Main course: Baked Atlantic cod fillet

I chose the cod. It was good! As good as the beef. One of the best cod I’ve tried, comparing with other restaurants. But I can’t be too sure, as I don’t order cod often.

There was a croquette below the cod

Drink – dozo’s signature mocktail: refreshing mix of apple, passion fruit & mint

Drink – Iced grapefruit glory: a strong citrus drink that is helpful for digestion

Dessert – Dozo’s freshly baked warm chocolate cake served with ice cream

Mine. I loved it! I love chocolate lava cake.

Dessert – Japanese ‘mua-chi’ served with green tea ice cream

The green tea ice cream was too hard. It’s probably prescopped and frozen in the pan so it was like rock hard. The pink powder on top fizzes in your mouth, like the kind of sweets we used to have when we were younger! The thing that resembled leeches was red bean paste. This was quite good!

The service at Dozo was impeccable. When making reservations, they will ask you if you’re here for a special occasion. As it was my birthday, they presented me a cake! The cake wasn’t anything special but the gesture was sweet.
