I’ve been to Sun with Moon several times but I have not tried the outlet at CHIJMES, which is called SUN (no moon). If I’m not wrong, the menu is slightly different.
For lunch they offer lunch sets, which are not available for dinner. I believe the lunch sets are more value for money. I snapped a few which interests me and I may revisit to try them.
For lunch on weekdays, they have a sushi & sashimi platter + side dish for $16.80++ or $19.80++. I chose the beef teriyaki steak.
This set happened to include my favourite sort of sushi so that’s good.
Sashimi – not very fresh but still passable, which was a bit of a disappointment because the sashimi they serve at their other outlet, Sun with Moon, was famously fresh.
Nigiri Sushi – Aburi salmon is my favourite sort of nigiri sushi at the moment so of course I was delighted! However, the sushi wasn’t as well pressed as Tomi Sushi’s and disintegrated rather easily. It was delicious on a whole, however.
Maki sushi –I’m not sure what the yellow one is but the green one’s avocado and I love avocado. Quite tasty. Definitely passable.
Tamago – this one was good and I loved it a lot! It’s even better that it was served cold. The flavour was slightly sweet and not bland, which was what I usually look for in tamago yakiThe portion of the beef teriyaki steak was very small. However, this didn’t disappoint! I ordered medium rare. They cut was sirloin and I usually do not like sirloin as it usually is tough and cutting and chewing it is a chore, but this one proved otherwise. Perhaps it’s because it’s been sliced so I didn’t have to go through the hassle of cutting the steak, making it tastier that way. It was served hot, which meant that they didn’t just take the meat from the freezer. The taste of the beef was good too, without the smelly beefy smell that un-fresh beef usually have.
This was the reason why I’m interested to try their other beef sets next time!
Another thing to note was that their service was quite good. The waitress was attentive and patient with my requests.
