There are so many new indie style cafes sprouting up everywhere, in obscure locations. Personally I am quite indifferent to indie style cafes and would actually prefer a more posh setting like Antoinette anytime. Anyway, Drips is one of them, located in Tiong Poh Road, which is somewhere between Outram and Tiong Barhu. It may sound very inaccessible at first, but actually the bus stop is not too far away. Their specialty is tarts and this is quite uncommon in Singapore, as Singaporeans are not known to be fanatics of tarts. The only tart shops I know of are Café Ma Maison and Fruit Paradise.
Raspberry Tart – $7.50
Cherry Tart – $7.50
Raspberry Almond Tart – $7.80
Lovers of fruit tarts will be thrilled to know that there are actually good fruit tarts in Singapore! The first 2 are quite similar – same type of crust with same type of custard, just with different fruits to top. I personally prefer raspberry over cherry so my choice is obvious. The pastry was a tad hard, but still crumbly, without any sick oily taste, overall quite good. Actually, my favourite would be the raspberry almond tart. It was sour, as raspberry was but I guess the almond have it a nice flavour. I would go for their other sliced tarts if I ever have the chance to return!
Honestly, it’s been a long time since I last had fruit tarts so I can’t be sure what awful fruit tarts should taste like, but without comparison I enjoyed having these and would recommend this over the tarts from Ma Maison.
I had a cup of Earl Grey to go along which cost $4.20. They use Dilmah tea bags, which is refillable with hot water.

Overall: The price to pay for these tarts are quite premium but at least the taste doesn’t disappoint. Recommended if you want to have good fruit tarts
