Ramen Keisuke Tori King – Lunch

If you are a fan of Keisuke Tonkotsu King at Orchid Hotel, you would be excited to try their chicken version at Amara Hotel. The concept of the shop is pretty much the same, except that the area is slightly bigger, they accept cards, and they serve chicken instead of pork. With the bigger area, turnover rate is faster and hence the queuing time isn’t as bad as the sister outlet.

I personally dislike Marutama Ramen to no end, and they happen to use chicken broth. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against chicken broth. In fact, I personally do like chicken soup! However, Marutama has bad ramen (in my opinion) and they happen to use chicken soup. They are the only chicken soup ramen shop I know of prior to Tori King.

For mine, I chose the Black Spicy Broth with egg. I had less oil, normal everything else, with no fried onions. I think my option cost $14.90.

Somehow, the egg was slightly overcooked and wasn’t really flavoured enough, apparent from the colour of it. Some parts of the yolk has turned opaque yellow.

Actually, the broth was nice and so was everything. Everything, except for the chicken. Somehow, the chicken didn’t seem appealing to me. It kind of had some unfresh chicken odour with it. Perhaps some marination could be done to mask the odour.

Overall, I wouldn’t mind having this again, but would trade my chicken for a piece of pork or something!
