After coming back from Japan, I missed the Japanese food I had there, especially kaiseki. I decided to try GOTO in hope that they’ll serve good kaiseki. The lunch menu costs $68.00++ and as kaiseki goes, the dishes are always seasonal. This restaurant is really small so do make your reservations ahead.
A good Japanese meal isn’t complete without sake. I liked this one we ordered, 花の舞.
Appetiser
Baby Squid, Plum, Lotus
Sashimi
Maguro, Hirame, Ika, Eel
Deep fried dish
Chicken
Simmered dish
This was somewhat like a thick soup.
Rice, Pickles, Miso Soup
Dessert
English tea mousse, fruits, ice cream
I found that this meal wasn’t very filling and for kaiseki standards, it has way too few courses to be satisfying. It wasn’t complete too because it lacks a welcome drink and matcha to end. However, they do have full courses for dinner and I guess I’ll go for that next time. The food standard here was no doubt one of the better ones around, but I feel I have to try more courses to judge better whether they are the best.

Overall: not many places in Singapore serves kaiseki – so if you wish to have kaiseki this is one of the places you can consider.
