I’ve tried many ramen stalls in Singapore and posted them on my Facebook account. Do like my page if you haven’t done so already!
Pork Cheek Ramen (M) – $22.00++
After trying so many ramen shops, I concluded that Santouka is the best overall. There was a survery by Wattention previously to vote for the best ramen in Singapore and this had my vote. Without much surprise, Santouka eventually emerged as the winner!
$22.00++ may be expensive for ramen but this pork is legendary. The marbling is good, it melts in the mouth and the meat is tender. The pork is simply different. They do have the normal chashu for a more friendly price but I think it is pointless to do that. Just order the pork cheek ramen and nothing else.
The noodles was Q enough for my liking and the broth was addictive. They serve Asahikawa (Hokkaido) style ramen here and is different from the more common Hakata Ramen (like Ippudo). The broth was flavourful and thick and you get to choose how it is salted – Shoyu, Salt (Shio), Miso and Kara Miso (Spicy). My multiple visits here allowed me to try all 4 and there is a difference. The shoyu one is the best in my opinion and everyone should just go order that.
For July they had a collaboration with Wattention and this ramen was 1 for 1! Only the medium size however. If I could have it my way, I would order a small ($21.00++) and add a seasoned egg. The medium size was very filling and it was a struggle to finish everything even though it was divine.
