Arteastiq has been around for a few years now with one shop at Mandarin Gallery but I’ve never tried it before despite being someone who enjoys spending my afternoons with idyllic setting, sipping tea. Recently a new outlet has opened in the new wing of Plaza Singapura and seeing it listed under my Entertainer App, I thought it’s a good reason to try!
For weekends, they don’t take reservations but the place wasn’t crowded at 4:30pm and I managed to get this nice seat. These sofa seats are ideal for afternoon tea, with ample privacy and can accommodate up to 4.
The Double Teasery set goes at $48.00++ for one set (there’s 2 in the picture) and comes with 2 teas.
Using the Entertainer, each set is $34.00++ without teas but I can have it 1-for-1, so basically for my party of 4, we paid $34.00++ for 2 sets of Double Teasery and ordered 4 drinks off the menu (not compulsory though).
Oolong Tea – $10.00++
They have all sorts of fancy teas on the menu but somehow I ended up with something classic and boring like this. The ginger cookies that was served with it were good.
Honey Lavender Tea – $13.00++
This was served with shortbread cookies.
Macarons, Chocolate Eclair, Caramel Eclair, Apple Cake & Baked Chocolate Tart
To my surprise, everything from the sweet layer was good! I usually have high expectations of macarons but surprisingly this one could pass, despite the not so pretty appearance. The shell was of good chewy texture and the chocolate one was better than most chocolate macarons I’ve tried, being quite rich with cocoa even in the shell.
Smoked Salmon, Cocktail Prawns, Ham, Duck Breast in Crispy Prata Wrap
This is probably instant and processed but the Duck Breast in Crispy Prata Wrap was tasty and had nice flaky texture. Before checking out the name of this item, I already thought it tasted like instant frozen prata (I’ve tried so many brands of this before when I was living off frozen food, so I really know).
I preferred the sweet layer because it had better quality but still it’s nice to have both. The portion was quite small but sufficient for afternoon tea. You wouldn’t want to be stuffed anyway – that’s not the objective of having afternoon tea. However, it would probably be better if they had scones and clotted cream to complete the experience.
Ambiance: 8/10
Food: 7/10
Value: 7/10
Overall: Average (but edible) food but the idyllic setting makes it a good place for afternoon tea.
