Brother Bird – Dessert

Within a span of 2 weeks I’ve tried all 3 restaurant run by the people behind Stateland Cafe. First it was Korean Fried Chicken from Chick and Ken at Lorong Telok (not bad), and then it was honey toast and waffles at Stateland Cafe (not that good, sadly) at Bali Lane and the last and newest of their establishments – soft serve and mochi donut from Brother Bird.

It is pretty obvious that all 3 places offers food which is trending among younger people (fried chicken, honey toast, waffles and ice cream).

Mochi Donut with Coconut and Cookie Butter Mixed Soft Serve – $9.00

The menu here is simply – you either get just the ice cream or get it with the donut. They also serve drinks and stuff.

Firstly, the ice cream was really nice! I love coconut but the cookie butter was good too. The flavour was rich and texture was creamy.

As for the mochi donut, I knew I would love it just judging from the name. Mochi anything tastes better right? I love mochi texture and I remembered loving mochi donuts from Mister Donut in Taipei (that was back in 2009). This donut was freshly fried and was served warm. It was really good.

Overall I love this creation and this is a great place. I would like to point out that the boss of this place (as well as Stateland Cafe 2 doors down) was friendly and accommodating and that’s the right attitude for running his business. My friend and I did not carry enough cash but he resolved our problem eventually. Do note that Brother Bird currently accepts cash only. I highly recommend this place and would definitely return again!

Ambiance: 7.5/10
Food: 9/10
Value: 8/10
Overall: Excellent creation. Try the mochi donut.
