I discovered this new restaurant through my Instagram feed where the pictures looks good and the captions supported the aesthetics. I guess in this age that’s the most effective way to reach out to people – through picture sharing and good comments on social media.
The restaurant located along Boon Tat Street and was quite small, taking up only 1 unit’s space perhaps. The kitchen was kind of open concept and they have a counter where you could watch the kitchen in action as you dine. The ambiance was quite casual, nothing fancy or formal, typical of modern Australian restaurants. Expect to get some grease or smell if you sit towards the kitchen.
For lunch, you can choose between 2 courses ($30.00++) or 3 courses ($38.00++). The ala carte menu is also available. It’s one of the rare occasions where I feel like giving dessert a miss so I went for 2 courses. Don’t get me wrong – the dessert options looked really good! But I wasn’t feeling right so no dessert today. I might regret this tomorrow.
CURED OCEAN TROUT
CUCUMBER | YUZU | BUTTERMILK
This was very good. Simple but good. Simple things can easily go wrong.
ROAST PUMPKIN
SPICED CASHEW NUT | KALE | PUMPKIN SEED
I know some people may not find this appealing since it looks and sounds so healthy so love it or hate it.
BARRAMUNDI
CHARRED SCALLION | TURNIPS
Charred scallion is actually the black sauce. It wasn’t even a diluted black. The sauce was very very black, like calligraphy ink. I’ve had this fish a few times at modern Australian restaurants and this was pretty good, skin slightly crispy while meat was tender and juicy.
Alright, I regret not having dessert already. Feels like the meal and this post is incomplete without pictures of dessert! But I know I’ll be back one day because the food was good and I like this place.
