I had lunch at Michelangelo’s after reading some good reviews about it. I had expectations that it would be a good Italian restaurant to recommend. However, it didn’t quite meet my expectations.
The bread was bad. It tasted like dough.
Crab meat salad with orange and grapefruit served with brandy sauce
This one was good. The salad used was mesclun which was fine, though I would prefer just rocket. The crab meat was tasty! There were prawns in there too but they weren’t really exciting.
Spaghetti aglio olio tossed with tuna, bell peppers finished with a splash of white wine
Poached escalope of salmon served with truffle nage and sautéed vegetables
This failed to impress me. The dish was not served piping hot. It was on the cold side. Even the sauce was kind of cold.
Dessert of the day: carrot cake
The carrot cake was so GOOD! Especially with that strawberry sauce! The cream cheese was delicious. This carrot cake is crave worthy. This was one of the best of its kind I’ve ever tried.
However, no coffee or tea was served due to their negligence. They didn’t offer it to us. When I got about to check out the set menu, I realise we were supposed to have coffee or tea!

Ambiance: 7.5/10
Food: 7/10
Value: 6.5/10
Overall: the main course failed to impress. The carrot cake, however, has been etched in my mind ever since the first bite.
