It was a very last minute decision to dine at Spizza. I tried to tell myself not to have too high expectations because it was impossible that it could be as good as L’Operetta’s VPN pizzas.
Unlike Peperoni Pizzeria, the flavours here seem to be tweaked towards Singaporean taste buds and do not strictly follow the classic pizza combinations. The prices of the pizzas vary too, unlike Peperoni Pizzeria where it is a standard price for each size regardless of flavour. It is not nett price here too, but with Standard Chartered card you get a 15% off.
Calamari – $12.00++
Crispy Calamari rings with spicy ‘Pizzaiolo’ dip
The batter for this calamari was quite good, tasty, but would be better if crispier. The squid itself was a bit too soft. Overall, I still like this.
BARBARA (L) – $21.00++
Tomato, Mozzarella, Hot Italian minced Pork, red Onions, Olives
WANDA (L) – $23.00++
Tomato, Mozzarella, Buffalo Mozzarella, spicy Olives, Red Bell Peppers, cooked Ham, sun-dried Tomatoes
The ingredients on the pizzas were not very generously given. The cheese however, was in abundance, which was good, but for the Wanda pizza I couldn’t really make out where the buffalo mozzarella was. But what I felt was lacking big time is the tomato sauce on the pizzas. There was either too little sauce on them or that the sauce was lacking in flavour. Comparing to Peperoni Pizzeria who serves similar firewood pizza with this kind of base, the sauce from Pepperoni was much more flavourful enhancing the overall favour of their pizza. The pizza here was quite forgettable.
Overall: For this genre of pizza, you should try Peperoni Pizzeria instead for cheaper and better options. For the best pizza in Singapore I would still recommend L’Operetta’s VPN certified pizzas.
