I spent the early morning and early afternoon at RWS Adventure Cove and had a late lunch at PUTIEN. Most of the dining options at RWS are chain restaurants and there weren’t many appealing choices. PUTIEN is pretty value for money and reasonably good , hence it was our choice for the afternoon.
Drunken Cockles – $5.90++
Lovers of shellfish should try this. Apparently this is one of the restaurant’s specialties.
Deep Fried Bamboo Clams – $7.90++
These are actually dried bamboo clams deep fried, so the texture is hard and chewy instead of crispy. I didn’t like it.
Homemade Beancurd – $8.90++
This is my favourite dish from Putien. However, it didn’t taste as good this time, somehow. I wonder why. (Actually, everything didn’t taste as good today. I’m not sure whether it’s me or the restaurant being inconsistent.)
Deep Fried Tenggiri Fish – $12.90++ / 3pc
This is only good when the fish was sliced thin, because only then it would be crispy. The piece in the center was not as good as the one on the back, because of the difference in cut.
PUTIEN Lor Mee – $15.90++ (M)
I’ve not tried any other noodles from Putien but this one is good enough. With so many other dishes, the S size portion for this was actually more suitable, to share among 3.
Overall the food here is pretty decent, and there isn’t much to hate about this place.
