Creamier – Desserts

This ice cream place has been getting a lot of attention online ever since they opened and I just needed to know why. The location is in the heartlands, at Toa Payoh. Strictly speaking, Toa Payoh is considered a centralised location, very accessible. However, nobody would hang out there for no particular reason.

When I arrived at the shop, I was disappointed by how small it really was. It was super crowded as well. For a table to accomodate 7 girls, we had to wait for about 20 minutes.

Comparing to other local ice cream places like Udders and Tom’s Palette (which has really outrageous flavours), their flavours are along the safe and ordinary side, with only a few unique flavours.

They do have a decent selection of teas, beers and ciders. Not many dessert places serves alcoholic drinks so this is good for groups with people wanting both ice cream and beers.

The waffles with 2 scoops of ice cream cost $10.80. The waffles are not bad, but for this sort of fluffy waffles, I prefer Wimbly Lu or Stranger’s Reunion. I do like Liege (Belgium) style waffles as well and Udders does it well.

We had Thai Iced Tea, Roasted Pisatchio, Summer Strawberries, Vanilla, Earl Grey Lavender.

The best flavours for me was the Earl Grey Lavender and Summer Strawberries. I suppose the former is created using the Gryphon tea of the same name. I haven’t tried the tea itself yet but soon will.

Strawberry ice cream is normally a hit or miss for me because when badly done, it’ll taste too artificial. When it’s too naturally done, it might be too sour, because strawberries we get here usually are. This version was just right and is one of the rare few places with good strawberry ice cream.

The quality of ice cream here was definitely decent and better than a lot of other neighbourhood options.

Ciders here are $10.40 for 500ml. Unfortunately it’s too sweet, especially the strawberry & vanilla one. The pear one was slightly better.

The quality of ice cream here is good, but I wouldn’t really go through inconveniences just to have it. There are other options around ultimately which are more convenient and less crowded. If they could expand their premises the overall experience would be much better.
