This place has been getting a lot of publicity ever since they started and it’s been on my to-try list got quite some time. Steak and Lobster is always a good idea for me and they happen to specialise in both.
Corkage is $30 if you wish to BYO, which I did, because the wine list did not have anything we fancied. Oyster Bay Pinot Noir can’t go wrong and it was a good match with the food.
Char-grilled Whole Lobster – $45+
I haven’t really encountered good lobsters in Singapore but fortunately this proved to be worthy. I like how I can really taste/smell the char in this char-grilled lobster and the meat was firm and succulent. The sinful oily dip is worth whatever guilt it induced. They didn’t really tell me how I should go about eating this, but I dipped the meat in the oily dip and it worked fine. The whipped potato was sinfully good too, and easily one of the better ones around. To achieve this texture, I suppose a lot of oil has been used; so this is not for the health conscious.
Grass Fed NZ Rib Eye 800g – $138+ (actually, I can’t remember the price!)
This was on the daily specials board and not in the regular menu. I wanted the US Prime rib eye 500g (also a daily special) initially but they were sold out for that by the time I ordered. The staff recommended this one instead and it was a good recommendation. Unfortunately I have forgotten the name of the farm this is from.
Overall I find the standard of food here to be definitely above average – really good. However, I wish the restaurant was bigger because It was pretty squeezy and noisy.
