I had an ongoing craving for Korean Fried Chicken for quite a period of time. My only encounter with Korean Fried Chicken was from Kko Kko Nara and it was instant love. The difference between Korean Fried Chicken and regular fried chicken is that it is fried twice, resulting in a crispier effect, and often it is coated with some sauce which makes it addictive.
After about a month of longing for it, I finally satisfied my Korean Fried Chicken craving at 4 Fingers! Choosing this place over other establishments was actually because this is conveniently located at Plaza Singapura – where I could proceed to catch a movie. Their other outlet at Orchard ION is convenient too.
It was a Saturday evening so a queue is expected. This is a casual fast food like establishment, so the queue was for purchasing. However, I had no problems finding a seat thereafter, so there’s no need to worry. I queued for about 30mins in total.
18pc wings/ drumettes set – $19.95
They have several ongoing promotions which is more value for money than their ala carte menu as well as student promotions on weekdays. I ordered the 18pc set which comes with fries and a drink, available to DBS cardholders.
Of course, this is meant for sharing. Between 2 this was more than enough, though we still managed to finish everything. Ideally I think this could be shared between 3 with some space left for dessert.
What I noticed here was that it is priced significantly less than other popular Korean Fried Chicken places like those in Tanjong Pagar area and I honestly do not think that fried chicken should cost that much.
As it was my first time trying, I did not know which flavour to choose. Luckily, they allowed mixing so I got to try both. Honestly I liked the spicy one more, and the non spicy flavour was only useful when my tongue needed to rest from the spiciness. The chicken was indeed very crispy and crunchy and it lives up to the hype! I do like this fried chicken more than other fast food fried chicken establishments. The fries are forgettable. However, do be warned that this chicken is typically drier than usual. I am ok with this because I am just after the crunchiness anyway.
