There’s a new mall in Paya Lebar called OneKM. While the name doesn’t sound very hip or classic and maybe doesn’t even sound like a mall, I am glad that they have some interested F&B establishments. It’s always a good thing to have new options in your neighbourhood isn’t it? The Paradise Group owns 3 restaurants in this mall and I am excited that 2 of them are new concepts – ParaThai and Beauty in the Pot. The 3rd one is the crowd pleasing Paradise Dynasty, famous for their colourful Xiao Long Bao.

I already decided I was going to try them all eventually. Since Paradise Dynasty is not new to me, I decided on ParaThai over Beauty in the Pot (a steamboat restaurant concept) because the latter opens until 3am daily and it would be more fun to save it as a late night option since there isn’t many other late night options around.

As the name suggests, it is a Thai restaurant. However, some of the dishes on the menu looks unique and they have more than just the common dishes. Prices are mid range, typical of a restaurant in a mall (with proper food standards) so expect to pay more than Thai eateries.

Pineapple Rice

It is difficult to rate the rice because usually it’s either good or bad. This was good.

Tofu

This one was like fried tau kwa, nothing special in my opinion and not worth getting.

Phad Thai

I’ll just say this is decent but not my favourite Phad Thai so far.

Duck Red Curry

This one is my favourite dish and I personally highly recommend this one! I knew I would love it just looking at the description. The curry was rich, flavourful and worked well with duck. I like it way better than the typical Thai green curries.

Pork collar

This meat was flavourful and quite tender. Not bad.

Red Ruby

The best red ruby I had was at Rochor Thai, where the coconut flavour stood out. None of the red rubies tried anywhere else could match up and as expected, this did not either.

Overall the food was pretty decent and I wouldn’t mind coming back next time! The price was higher than typical Thai eateries and will be about $25 – $30/pax, typical of shopping mall restaurants.
