Bread Street Kitchen – Dinner

It was difficult to get reservations at Bread Street Kitchen despite it being a big restaurant because Gordon Ramsay is very popular among Singaporeans and the reservation system is rather flawed. They have an online booking system which didn’t work well and you may need to wait months for a dinner slot. I decided to try my luck one day and to my delight, I managed to get seats for the very evening.

The restaurant occupies 2 levels (so big yet fully booked), basement 1 and ground floor.

With prior knowledge of that, I made it a point to get a window seat on the ground floor because it’s nicer in my opinion.

Sea bass fillet carpaccio, avocado purée, horseradish, ginger – $21.00++

Got this item from the list of cold appetisers and it was quite a good choice. The combination was light and refreshing.

Seared scallops, carrot purée, treacle cured bacon, apple, celery cress – $24.00++

From the hot appetisers, I picked the scallops because I’ve seen pictures of it everywhere and it does look good. However, I did not really like the combination of the accompanying ingredients. The flavours from everything else was overpowering, especially the purée.

BSK short rib beef burger, Monterey Jack cheese, spicy sriracha mayo – $26.00++

Well… I’ve had better burgers elsewhere. I find the patty to be bland.

Shepherd’s pie with braised lamb, onions, carrots, potato purée, and brioche garlic crumbs – $38.00++

In comparison, this was much better because it was full of flavour.

Monkey Shoulder Cranachan cheesecake with roasted balsamic strawberries – $18.00++

I was looking forward to dessert the most and this one didn’t disappoint at all being the highlight of the meal. I highly recommend getting this! I wish I could trade my burger for more desserts.

Overall, it is a decent restaurant with proper food but not anything worth the hype or long wait list. It wasn’t half as difficult getting seats at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay Hospital Road.

Overall: Dessert was better than the savoury items.
