My favourite place for Korean BBQ used to be Wang Dae Bak but I think I’ve found something on par, or better. I’ve been to the first outlet of Superstar K at Tanjong Pagar before and this newer one is larger and more comfortable in my opinion. I also like how it is located next to Hom Yoga at Circular Road, which is a very accessible location.
The minimum order is 2 items for BBQ and you get the side dishes, typical of Korean restaurants. No extra charges for anything else.
Here they use charcoal grills (with flame too, so it’s not 100% charcoal) and each station has a suction for the fumes so the experience is more or less smokeless and doesn’t make you smell bad.
Grilled Beef Ribs – $29.00++
The beef had marbling good enough for it to be tender and juicy. I like how the staff would cook the food for you at this place, so I didn’t have to worry about not cooking it right.
Among all the side dishes provided, my favourite is this steamed egg (I think?). Everyone I know who has tried this loves it!
Seasoned Pork Neck – $19.00++
I had this before at the other Superstar outlet and I remember it being tender and flavourful.
Indeed, it was as nice as I remembered it to be, adequately fatty and well marinated, but if I had to choose just one item to recommend it would be the beef.
Basically I can’t find a fault about this place. A major plus point is how reservations are not required to secure a table upon walk in and it wasn’t crowded at all despite having good standards and a fair price. No food is worth queuing up hours for in my opinion.
