Initially, the only reason that this place was included in my itinerary was because of the airport. There were options for flights home from Bilbao airport via AirFrance/ KLM and this was near to San Sebastian. I later found a very interesting restaurant, Azurmendi, near Bilbao so that made my time here worth it.
Funny how the trip started with the idea of checking out San Sebastian, and then extending to Bordeaux which was just a few hours away, and then to Arcachon and Les Prés d’Eugénie, and now Bilbao – and the best locations/ restaurants were the unintended ones while the main objective was not that fantastic.
Besides the fantastic restaurant Azurmendi, Bilbao is pretty much boring and can be done in a day. It’s a small place and the most famous attraction would be the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao. There is also another Guggenheim Museum in New York City.

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is a museum of modern and contemporary art, designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry, and located in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain.
The contemporary architecture of the museum by Frank Gehry is probably more famous than it’s exhibits.
Shadows by Andy Warhol
Within the museum, almost everywhere forbids photography, except for the exhibition of. This exhibition is available from February 26, 2016 – October 2, 2016.
The 102 canvases, all of them on view at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, show Warhol’s signature palette of bright hues with cheerful excess. The backgrounds of these canvases were painted with a sponge mop, the streaks and trails left by the mop adding “gesture” to the picture plane. Seven or eight different screens were used to create Shadows, as evidenced in the slight shifts in scales of dark areas as well as the arbitrary presence of spots of light. The “shadows” alternate between positive and negative imprints as they march along the wall of the gallery.

That’s about it for Bilbao. I didn’t even stay the night within the city.
Instead, I chose a farm stay B&B which was along the highway, just 10mins away from the airport. I thought it’ll be a unique experience.
I found this place on Booking.com. A night cost €69.78 for 2, including tax,
They have 6 rooms, all en suite. The reception is below. The common dining area has a fridge, microwave oven and drinking water. Free WiFi is available. The room was clean and the stay was a pleasant one.
